How to manage location and bins in CellarTracker
We often get asked how to best use “Location” and “Bins” to indicate where to find each wine. The beauty of CellarTracker locations and bins is how flexible it is to customize the way you want to use it. You can choose to specify rows, columns, or the exact spot for the wines. You can write up to 40 characters for the bin to specify location.
Here are a few tips and different examples on how other members use location and bins:
Location
Use the physical location of the cellar. Think about how you can group different locations. For example:
If you have 3 wine fridges, label each wine fridge as a location (i.e. Fridge 1, Kitchen Fridge)
If you have wines in 3 different cities or wine rooms, label each city or as a location.

Bins
Think about how detailed you want to be. Do you want to point to a specific spot? Row? Row and column? Use a "-" to differentiate between rows vs. columns. For example:
If you want to point to a specific spot in a fridge, use "Row-Nth from left" (i.e. 3-3, third row, 3rd spot from left)
For a larger room/cellar, divide the room by walls or section. Use "section-row/column" (i.e. A5, where A is a section and 5 is a column/row)

The more specific you label, the longer it will take but will make it faster for you to find the wines you're looking for in the future.
